FOUNDERS’ STORY

A Foundation Built on Compassion, Discipline, and a Shared Commitment to Humanity

The Agatha Obiageli Aghedo Memorial Foundation (AOAMF) was born from a simple but powerful belief shared by Dr. Akhere and Odion that every human being deserves dignity, support, and a fair chance to thrive. The sisters, alongside four other siblings, grew up with values that placed humanity at the center of every action, and those values continue to guide everything the foundation stands for today.

They were raised to understand that service is not an event; it is a way of life. Helping others is not an afterthought; it is a responsibility. Those early teachings formed the backbone of AOAMF’s work and remain the quiet force behind its consistency and growth.

Dr. Akhere
Educator • Inclusion Specialist • Humanitarian

Dr. Akhere has dedicated her life to building spaces where children and vulnerable persons are seen, supported, and given opportunities to rise. Her work in inclusive education, disability advocacy, community development, and emergency response shaped the heart of the foundation’s flagship campaign: #NoChildShouldBeLeftBehind.

Her leadership ensures that inclusion is intentional from the onset—never as an add-on, never as charity, but as a foundational principle that respects every human being. Through her vision, AOAMF’s programmes speak to compassion backed by structure, accountability, and measurable impact.

Odion
Executive Director, Travel and Tourism Leader • Strategic Partner in Community Development

Odion brings to the foundation a depth of professional experience shaped by years of leadership in the travel and tourism industry. Her work is defined by excellence, integrity, and a firm commitment to people and community. Through her extensive networks, strategic insight, and human-centred approach, she strengthens the foundation’s partnerships and expands its capacity to reach more communities.

Odion believes, just as strongly, that service should be intentional and that the vulnerable deserve more than sympathy—they deserve real, practical assistance that restores hope and dignity.

Shared Values, United Purpose

Together, Dr. Akhere and Odion built AOAMF on three guiding principles:

Awareness: Creating understanding within communities about the challenges vulnerable groups face. People must be aware of diversity and individual vulnerabilities.

Acceptance: Promoting belonging, dignity, and inclusion, especially for persons who are often overlooked. Acknowledging diversity and avoiding blame or judgement based on individual differences.

Assistance: Providing structured, consistent, and meaningful support to children, vulnerable families, and persons with disabilities in order for them to thrive and have a sense of belonging.

These are not slogans. They are the backbone of every intervention, every project, every classroom built, and every meal served.

Their Why

AOAMF stands as a tribute to a legacy of compassion and a commitment to humanity. The sisters established the foundation to honour a name that stood for strength, care, and selfless love—Agatha Obiageli Aghedo, a woman whose life reflected everything AOAMF now upholds.

The Promise Continues

With discipline, humility, and a deep sense of responsibility, Dr. Akhere and Odion continue to anchor the foundation’s work in values that never waver: intentional inclusion, respect for every life, community upliftment, and the firm belief that no child should ever be left behind.

Our Vision & Mission

Grounded in humanity. Driven by compassion. Sustained by action.

At the Agatha Obiageli Aghedo Memorial Foundation (AOAMF), our work is more than programmes and outreach—it is a commitment to restoring dignity, building hope, and creating pathways for vulnerable children, persons with disabilities, and underserved communities to thrive.

Everything we do is guided by a simple but powerful belief:
When a child rises, a community rises with them.
And when a life is restored, society becomes stronger.

Our Vision

To build a world where every child, every family, and every vulnerable person can access the support, inclusion, and opportunities they need to live with dignity and fulfil their potential.

A world where intentional inclusion is the norm—not an afterthought.
A world where #NoChildShouldBeLeftBehind is not just a campaign but a shared responsibility.

Our Mission
  • 1. Access to quality education, meals, and emotional safety
  • 2. Inclusive learning environments that embrace every child
  • 3. Programmes that empower youth, including those with disabilities
  • 4. Consistent community outreach, health support, and relief interventions
  • 5. Partnerships that strengthen families and open doors for future growth
  • 6. Practical support that transforms lives in meaningful, measurable ways

We work with discipline, humility, and a deep sense of responsibility—ensuring that every intervention reflects our values and honours the legacy that founded this mission.

Our Values & Promise
  • Humanity First: We honour the dignity of every person we serve. We listen, support, and stand with those who rely on us for strength, compassion, and hope.

  • Intentional Inclusion: Inclusion is our practice from the very beginning—not as an adjustment. We design with everyone in mind, ensuring persons with disabilities, vulnerable families, and underserved children are considered from inception.

  • The 3 A’s — Our Strategic Anchor: Awareness – creating understanding that inspires responsibility; Acceptance – affirming every child and adult’s right to belong; Assistance – providing practical support that changes lives.

  • Integrity & Accountability: We honour our commitments. We manage resources with discipline. Every intervention counts, every statistic is real, and every act of service is rooted in sincerity.

  • Community Strength: We believe solutions are strongest when built together—with families, partners, volunteers, and individuals who share our heart for humanity.

  • Sustained Impact: We focus on long-term change, not momentary relief. Our programmes are designed to be consistent, measurable, and grounded in sustainable structures.

Our Promise

To continue building environments where children can learn, grow, and dream—
To remain a steady hand for vulnerable families—
To amplify the voices of persons with disabilities—
To uphold dignity in every action—
And to ensure that, truly and consistently, #NoChildShouldBeLeftBehind.
