Reflections from Our Work

There’s a word that has shaped my work in ways I sometimes struggle to explain, yet I see its impact everywhere I go: Emplasism.

For us at AOAMF, emplasism is not a concept to admire from afar. It is something we live out daily—acknowledging diversity, honouring identity, and intentionally creating spaces where every child, every family, every person feels they belong.

In a world that often pushes difference to the margins, emplasism invites us to do the opposite.

• To notice.
• To include.
• To build room for everyone, especially those the world tends to overlook.

• It shows up in the way we design our learning centres so that no child feels “othered.”
• It shows up in our libraries where books feature characters who look like our children, speak like them, dream like them.
• It shows up in the way a child with a disability is not treated as an exception but as a full member of the community.
• It shows up when a child from a struggling home is welcomed without shame.
• It shows up in simple, quiet ways that slowly reshape a community’s heart.

And when a child knows they belong, their confidence blossoms. Their curiosity awakens. They push past limits they once believed were permanent. This is the miracle we witness every day at AOAMF.

Our No Child Should Be Left Behind campaign is, at its core, a commitment to emplasism.

A promise to keep widening the circle until no one is standing outside it. But creating these spaces takes sustained effort. It needs people who care enough to help shape environments where every child (no matter their story) has a place to stand tall.

There are days I sit back and think about the people who make our work at AOAMF possible our staff, our volunteers, our silent supporters who show up even when no one is clapping. And every time, the same truth rises to the surface: passion drives commitment.

In all my years of doing this work across education, inclusion, community development, and humanitarian support, I’ve learned that loyalty is not something you demand. It is something people give when they feel seen, valued, and connected to a mission bigger than themselves.

At St. Agatha’s Inclusive Schools, at the DARTSS Project, during community outreaches, and in every corner of our foundation’s work, I have watched staff stay late (sometimes long after the world has gone quiet) simply because they believe in our children.

• Not because they are compelled to.
• Not because anyone is checking.
• But because passion has found a home in their hearts.

• I’ve seen volunteers wake up at dawn to pack relief materials for families they do not even know by name.
• I’ve seen staff go beyond job descriptions, crossing personal comfort just to ensure no child slips through the cracks.
• I’ve seen loyalty born from shared purpose, not hierarchy.

And each time, I am reminded that commitment is not the product of instruction, it is the fruit of conviction.

• Over the years, I’ve watched both staff and volunteers grow from helpers to advocates.
• From curious learners to community anchors.
• From “I want to help” to “I want to change lives.”

Passion has a way of lighting a fire that no challenge, no setback, and no exhaustion can fully extinguish. It makes ordinary people do extraordinary things. It pulls us together when the work becomes heavy. It strengthens us on days when the wins seem small. It pushes us to remember that the heart of AOAMF is not charity, it is humanity.

Our No Child Should Be Left Behind campaign is sustained because of people like this, people whose loyalty is rooted in love, people whose commitment is fed by compassion, and people who understand that when one child rises, an entire community rises too.

To everyone who has given their time, strength, creativity, and heart thank you. Your loyalty is the spine of this mission. Your passion keeps us moving.

If I ever write a book, an entire chapter will be dedicated to the quiet heroes who keep AOAMF moving forward, our community supporters.

• People who show up with food items when the kitchen pantry is almost empty.
• People who transfer ₦2,000 with the message “It’s small, but I care.”
• People who call to ask, “How are the children eating this week?”
• People who drop clothes, books, pads, shoes anything they can spare.

This is how we’ve sustained the daily feeding at St. Agatha’s Inclusive Schools. This is how we’ve kept over 500 vulnerable children in school in Satellite town. This is how we’ve consistently held our quarterly outreaches without missing a beat.

There is nothing more humbling than watching a community rally around its children.

• And make no mistake, feeding a child is not just about food.
• It is about dignity.
• It is about stability.
• It is about giving them the strength to learn, play, and hope.

Community support is the backbone of everything we do, and we are grateful beyond words. But the journey ahead is still long, and the number of children needing help keeps rising.
